QuickMIC® is an ultra-rapid system for phenotypic antibiotic susceptibility testing. This system, distributed exclusively in the United States through Hardy Diagnostics, is designed to offer personalized treatment options for sepsis patients, thereby contributing to increased survival, reduced healthcare costs and lower antibiotic resistance.
Long Description
With a breakthrough device designation by the FDA, the 510(k) study of QuickMIC® and its first gram-negative panel is now initiated at clinical sites in the US. The QuickMIC® system determines precise minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values in two to four hours. Precise MIC values, rather than doubling dilutions, allow for more specific pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic targeted antibiotic dosing, resulting in more precise and informed treatment decisions for the benefit of sepsis patients. QuickMIC® provides precise MIC results with high resolution and accuracy, which has the potential to help the clinical team target personalized blood antibiotic concentrations. One instrument analyzes one patient sample against a panel of 12 antibiotics per run. Instruments are modular and can be stacked for increased capacity, making the QuickMIC® suitable for small and larger laboratories.
