AFP Introduces Industry's First Intelligent Electronic Rotary Valves for Advanced Fluid Control
Chicago, IL [July 29, 2025] — AFP, a leader in high-performance fluid control components, is revolutionizing instrument fluid control with the launch of the industry's first Intelligent Electronic Rotary Valves (IERV) for high-precision fluid control in laboratory instruments and diagnostic systems.
AFP's next-generation IERV series integrates advanced precision sensors and predictive monitoring features to optimize system performance and reliability for engineers designing genomics, DNA sequencing, microfluidics, proteomics, and diagnostic systems.
AFP's new intelligent electronic rotary valves incorporate torque sensing, pressure sensing, and flow monitoring in low-pressure (LP) and medium-pressure (MP) configurations, allowing designers to monitor what matters in their system.
Key innovations and features of AFP's IERV Series include:
• Predictive Seal Loss Monitoring: Detects wear before it impacts system performance, reducing downtime, failure, and maintenance costs.
• Torque-Sensing and Monitoring: Ensures optimal valve operation by detecting changes in torque, which can signal potential issues.
• Flow Sensing and SPC Monitoring: Provides real-time feedback on flow performance, ensuring accuracy and consistency in fluid handling.
• Pressure Sensing and SPC Monitoring: Combined with closed-loop feedback, this can protect against system clogs and bursts by limiting pressure spikes.
• Multi-Position Configurations: Available in a variety of port configurations, up to 31 ports, Ø.010" orifice and up, with custom options to meet specific application needs.
• ParLINK™ Software Integration: Users can monitor valve performance and adjust settings through advanced communication protocols CAN-bus and RS-232
• 3 GPIOs provide the ability to control other components through the valve, enabling very rapid prototyping for simple fluidic systems
AFP's IERV series also offers a unique Best Position Teaching feature, which uses flow data during factory calibration to set optimal rotor positions to align with each port. Additional safeguards, such as reverse voltage and short circuit protection, ensure reliability.
The valves' predictive monitoring capabilities help prevent costly system failures and improve reliability.
